Please note that the last day to pay your Town of Delhi 2024 Town & County taxes is Tuesday, April 30th.  Our office is open Monday through Friday 8:00am - 3:00pm, if you are unable to make it during normal business hours there is a drop box located at the main door for your convenience which is checked at 8am daily.  If you are mailing your payment we will accept payments postmarked through April 30th.

 Second notices have been sent to homeowners whose taxes have not been received, if you have received a second notice and your taxes are paid through escrow please contact your bank. 

Note any payments postmarked after April 30th will be returned to the sender and it will be necessary to contact Delaware County Treasurer’s office for payment.

Town of Delhi Water Safety Instructors and Lifeguards

For the Community Swimming Pool

The Town of Delhi is currently accepting applications for the positions of Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard.  These seasonal positions run from May 27, 2024 – September 2, 2024.  All certifications (WSI/Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR, AED) must be current.  Applicants should be at least 17 years of age at the time of employment.  Although experience in an aquatic program lifeguarding and/or as an instructor is preferred, it is not required.  Work schedule may vary weekly between 8am – 8pm.

• A strong commitment to maintaining the safety of swimming 
• Responsible and reliable 
• Ability to take directions and follow through independently

Notice of Tax Collection for the Town of Delhi

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that I, the undersigned, collector of taxes for the Town of Delhi, Delaware County, State of New York, upon duly receiving the tax roll and warrant for the collection of taxes for the fiscal year 2024, will be in attendance at the Town Hall located at 5 Elm Street on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from the hours of 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. for the purpose of receiving taxes listed on said roll. 

 TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, taxes may be paid on or before January 31, 2024 without charge of interest. On all such remaining unpaid taxes after January 31, 2024, there shall be added interest of one(1) percent for the first month  and an additional one (1) percent for each additional month or fraction thereafter until such taxes are paid to the Delaware County Treasurer, pursuant to law. 

BE IT FUTHER NOTED there will be an additional charge of $20.00 for all checks returned unpaid.

The Delhi Town Clerk’s office and Town Justice Court will be closed for Thanksgiving Thursday, November 23rd and Friday, November 24th. 

Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks and we would like to thank everyone for their kindness throughout the year and wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

            NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Public Hearing will be held before the Town Board for the Town of Delhi at the Delhi Town Hall, 5 Elm Street, Delhi on the 13th day of November 2023, at 7:00 p.m., regarding the adoption of a Local Law to Override the Tax Levy Limit established in General Municipal Law §3-c.  This law is being proposed to comply with subdivision 5 of the General Municipal Law §3-c which expressly authorizes the Town Board to override the tax levy limit by the adoption of a local law approved by vote of at least sixty percent (60%) of the Town Board. At such time and place all persons interested in the subject matter thereof will be heard concerning the same.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE the regular monthly meeting of the Town Board will follow directly after the Public Hearing. 

Copies of the proposed law shall be available at the time of the hearing and shall be available at times prior to and after the hearing at the Town Clerk’s Office during normal business hours for the purpose of inspection or procurement by interested persons.

The proposed Local Law to Override the Tax Levy Limit Established in General Municipal Law §3-c establishes the Delhi Town Board’s intent to override the limit on the amount of real property taxes that may be levied by the Town of Delhi.

NOTICE OF HEARING UPON PRELIMINARY BUDGET

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Delhi Town Board will hold a public hearing on the Preliminary 2024 Budget at the Town Hall at 7:00pm, on the 13th  day of November 2023 and that at such hearing any person may be heard in favor or against the preliminary budget as compiled for or against any item or items therein contained. 

Pursuant to Section 108 of the Town Law, the proposed salaries of the town officers are hereby specified as follows:

Supervisor                               $11,591.28

Councilmember 4 each at           2,873.88 

HWY Superintendent                 40,000.00

Town Clerk/Tax Collector          38,533.82

Justice                                        28,483.78

The regular monthly Town Board Meeting will be held directly following the Public Hearing.

The Town of Delhi Clerk’s office would like to remind residents of the Town and Village of Delhi that Article 7 of the New York State Agriculture and Market Law requires that all dogs older than 4 months be licensed.  Licensing ensures that all dogs have been properly vaccinated against rabies for the protection of both you and your neighbors. If your dog is spayed/ neutered the fee is $6.00 per year.  If the dog is not spayed/neutered the fee is $15.00 per year.

If your dog is unlicensed and/or is caught running at large the dog is subject to seizure and you are subject to a court appearance and a fine, as well as redemption fees from the shelter.  Failure to license your dog may subject you to an appearance ticket to the town court and a fine. 

Please remember the Village of Delhi has the following local law: Local Law 2-2004 §106-2 – Restrictions which states all dogs shall be restrained upon a leash while off the owner’s property…

Happy Retirement Don!

The Town of Delhi is happy to announce that we will holding swim lessons!  The dates are as follows:  July 31st – August 15, 2023.  Classes will be held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Please note we will not hold lessons on Wednesday’s.  We are offering Level I, Level II, Level III and Level IV.   At this time we are not offering Infant/Toddler or Level V lessons.

The Town of Delhi Highway Department will be conducting road work on Bramley Mountain tomorrow, July 11, 2023. Road work will begin at 6:00am and conclude by 4:00pm. Please except long delays, alternative routes are suggested.
