NOTICE OF COMPLETION OF TENTATIVE ASSESSMENT ROLL

Pursuant to Section 506 & 526 of the Real Property Tax Law.

            NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assessors of the Town of Delhi, County of Delaware have completed the Tentative Assessment Roll for the current year and that a copy has been filed at the Delhi Town Clerk’s Office. The roll may be seen and examined by any interested person until the Fourth Tuesday in May (May 24th, 2022), at the Delaware County Office of Real Property Website:

            The Board of Assessment Review will meet on Tuesday May 24th, 2022 between the hours of 1 PM to 4 PM  and 7 PM  to 9 PM  at the Delhi Town Hall at 5 Elm Street Delhi, NY, in said Town to hear and examine all complaints in relationship to assessments on the written application, correctly filled out, accompanied with the required data of any person believing himself to be aggrieved.

The Town of Delhi has implemented a Do-Not-Plant-List. Thanks to the efforts of the Delhi Homegrown National Park team, the town will not purchase the following invasive plants.

Always turn around if you come to a road that has water over it. The following roads in the Town of Delhi are currently closed due to water over the roadway.

- State Route 10 in both directions between CR-16 and Peakes Brook Rd. 

- Sherwood Rd from the State Highway 10 side of the bridge to the intersection of Arbor Hill Rd

- Hoags Crossing from State Highway 10 to County Highway 18

- Tanglewood Lake Rd

- County Route 18

- Page Avenue

The most common solution is the air-sourced heat pump or “mini-split,” which pulls heat from the outside air—even at sub-zero temperatures—to warm your home in winter and cool it in summer.

HeatSmart Delaware will help local residents navigate through the process of making their home or business more comfortable, safer, and energy efficient with heat pumps and energy efficiency. On Wednesday, April 13 at noon, Network for a Sustainable Tomorrow will host a webinar on zoom to provide information and education on how clean energy technologies work, what incentives and financing are available, and how to take the next step, which is to get a free assessment from a competitively-selected installer partner. 

Participating in this program helps Delhi and Delaware County become a clean energy community and earn grant money and recognition for climate leadership while building community-wide resiliency and economic opportunity. The webinar will be held on zoom.  Online registration is required by visiting tinyurl.com/6cv59exs.

There are only 32 grants of $5,000 available to small communities statewide when they complete a “Clean Heating & Cooling” campaign.  The grants are offered by NYSERDA, the New York State Energy Research Development Authority, as a way to encourage residents to make the switch to electric heat for their homes and businesses.
 

The Town of Delhi is hiring lifeguards for the upcoming pool season.  SUNY Delhi will offer a Red Cross Lifeguarding Class on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. starting April 18 going through May 12, 2022.  There will be no class on April 19, 2022.

The cost is $270 payable to SUNY Delhi.  A $45.00 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration.  The minimum age for the course is 15 years old.  Registration is free for the first two youths from each town, if they register with the Youth Bureau by calling 607-832-5310.

Effective today March 18, 2022 the Town of Delhi playground will be closed until further notice, due to pending construction of the new playground. Thank you.

The Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting this year's Holiday Parade and changing things up a little.

The Delhi Holiday parade will be held on Friday, December 3 at 5:30 p.m. Those interested in participating should sign up using this online form.

Line up will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the lower parking lot at SUNY Delhi.  The parade will start at 5:30 p.m. and go to the Courthouse Square.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on the Square to welcome your family!

The Village of Delhi Bicentennial is providing the prizes for parade participants that decorate according to the Bicentennial theme.

The Catskill Mountain Cycling Challenge carries forth the long tradition of recreational road cycling in the Western Catskills. Building on the Tour de Pepacton and the Ride-n-Peak, the 2021 Cycling Challenge consists of three routes ranging from 29 miles to 99 miles and takes place on Sunday, September 5. This scenic pedal will support new and traditional programming at the Catskill Recreation Center (CRC). The first 130 registrants will receive a tee-shirt. All participants will receive lunch and use of CRC Facilities.

Registration and check-in open at 7:15 am for each event at the Catskill Recreation Center at 651 County Highway 38, Arkville, NY  12406.  Register online and find more information at www.catskillrecreationcenter.org/events/catskill-mountain-cycling-challenge-2021.  There are three rides to choose from.

The Century Challenge is the day’s longest ride that affords a rich mix of woodland, farm, hamlet, and valley scenery while including some moderate climbs. The route breaks from Route 28 at mile 7, rolling up the beautiful New Kingston Valley and beginning a steady climb at the hamlet and up over the pass (15.6 mi.) to Bovina. Bovina Center offers a refreshment stop before the scenic ascent of Pink Street and then its steep, fast plunge into the West Branch Valley. Rolling downstream, the ride crosses the covered bridge (34.7) and soon continues up picturesque Elk Creek Road (from previous years’ routes), before traversing the Catskill Turnpike west. At mile 50, the route turns southeast reaching Delhi (with a refreshment stop), and then it’s on to DeLancey at mile 65. The rider then faces a 1050’ gain in the next 7.5 miles to the apex of Co. Rte. 2, high above Andes with spectacular views. Reaching Andes at mile 76, the route rolls down the Tremperskill Valley, with a refreshment stop just before the bridge that carries you over the Pepacton Reservoir (84.5). Much of the concluding stretch follows the shore of the Pepacton and is flat to rolling. This ride is recommended for advanced-level cyclists. If you want to be sure to cover 100 miles – and visit a second covered bridge, here’s how to do it. At mile 65 (the intersection in DeLancey) continue straight; at one mile stay to the right and go a short distance to the Hamden Covered Bridge. Retrace this route back to the DeLancey intersection and rejoin the regular route by turning right. Mandatory pre-ride safety talk starts at 7:45 am.  Ride departs at 8 am

The Pepacton Long Ride is a distance of 57 miles. There’s a modest (by Catskill standards) elevation gain of only 2460’. You’ll find plenty of rollers along this route which crosses the Pepacton Reservoir at the former site of Shavertown and reaches the halfway point at the historic Downsville Covered Bridge. On the return trip, the route varies by staying on the southern side of the reservoir after the Shavertown Bridge. You’ll get to gaze at these beautiful mountains and valleys, without having to climb them. Water/ food stops at 13.7 miles (Shavertown – north side of the bridge), 28 miles (covered bridge park), and at 43 miles (again at the Shavertown location, but you’ll need to cross the bridge to get to the water stop, and then return to the route). Recommended for intermediate to advanced cyclists. Mandatory pre-ride safety talk starts at 8:15 am.  Ride departs at 8:30 am

The Pepacton Short Ride is a popular loop that offers flat-to-rolling terrain along the roads that circle the Pepacton Reservoir, crossing the water at the former site of Shavertown with wide-open views. Refreshments and a composting toilet facility are available at mile 13.7 Recommended for intermediate-level cyclists. Mandatory pre-ride safety talk starts at 8:45 am.  Ride departs at 9:00 am.

The Town of Delhi Highway Department will be oil and stoning Glen Burnie Road on Monday, August 16, and putting a second coat of oil and stone on Holmes Hollow and resealing two broken sections of pavement of Sherwood Road on Monday, August 16 and Tuesday, August 17.
